Channing is a dedicated and committed community servant. He grew up in the inland area and is running for West Valley Water District, 4th District. He knows that water is our most critical public resource and we need to ensure that it is sustainable, reliable and affordable. Channing will fight for our community by making sure that the West Valley Water District is transparent, accountable and creating job opportunities that will benefit local families.
Channing has an extensive track record of fighting against bureaucracy and standing up for everyday people. He served as an appointee by the Assistant Secretary of the USDA, Office of Civil Rights, under the Obama Administration. Mr. Hawkins has also played key roles in numerous civic engagement and electoral campaign including, organizing in the Iowa and Virginia Caucuses for Obama for America, Regional Director for Kerry-Edwards for America, NAACP Youth and College Voter Outreach Director. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including, the California State Assembly District 47 “Man of the Year”, the Vanguard “Under 40 Most Influential African Americans”, Young and Powerful Rising Star Award, National Association for Real Estate Brokers, Black Diamond Award for Social Justice.
Mr. Hawkins currently serves as a Rialto Human Relations Commissioner, Adult Literacy Volunteer to Colton residents, and as a board member of numerous nonprofit organizations. Channing holds Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Howard University. He is a committed husband and father of three school age boys and a proud member of Ecclesia Christian Fellowship.
